As military base camp, on January 23, 1950 this building ever became main object of attack of Angkatan Perang Ratu Adil (APRA) under protecting of Captain Raymond Westerling. In that’s event fall 79 soldier of TNI Siliwangi, included Mayor Adolph Lembong.
Remember the importance to conservation and inheritance of value the struggle 45 to young generation to aware and inspired the histories of their nation struggle so exact everlasting, regional military command looked necessary to establish Museum Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi.
For that cause collecting any thing collection which has histories values from freedom fighter period, warrior period, and continually related with struggle of division of Siliwangi and public of west java generally. Goods which collecting between traditional weapon as kujang, Keris, sword, spear, bow bamboo sword, and samurai; gun from any kind and category; also some military vehicle which ever used, available other good as tools and equipment which used by division Siliwangi and society of west Java when combat to survive they are area.
Beside form of goods collection, also available picture of struggle from revolution period between 1945 until 1949, picture of former Siliwangi commander, rank, emblem, banner of Siliwangi, currency, map, and etc. Museum Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi, opening by Pangdam III Siliwangi ke – 8, Colonel Ibrahim Adjie may 23 1966 and included to histories museum category / the struggle regional military command level.
As facilities of education, Museum Mandala Wangsit Siliwangi completed by diorama painting and audio visual room for rotate documenter film (since 1990 not used because damaged) the struggle of Siliwangi division and society of west Java.
For every body who interest to visited this location , this museum open for public on Monday – Thursday, on 08.00 until 13.00 WIB and on Friday on 08.00 until 10.00 WIB, while on Saturday and Sunday also in vacation the museum closed, except by reservation before.
